The tour package typically includes the snowmobile ride to and from the local trailhead location, a guide, safety equipment including avalanche beacons, shovels, and probes, and radios.
Dress as you normally would for a stormy day at the ski resort. You will cycle through hot and cold so layer accordingly, and leave the cotton at home for something more moisture wicking. Bring your favorite powder skis or board and touring gear is always great if you've got it. Your ski/boarding boots and helmets are suitable, however full-face motocross helmets can be rented for am additional fee, if you desire. Try to pack an extra pair of gloves and goggles. A backpack with some snacks, a lunch, and ample water is encouraged
Transportation from your Okanagan accommodation can be provided, or meet at the trailhead if you've got 4x4 or AWD. We will transport all the Snowmobiles and Safety Gear and get everything unloaded for your convenience
Basic skiing or snowboarding skills are generally required. Prior snowmobile experience is usually not necessary as guides will provide instructions, however some experience with throttle/brake control on other types of machines is beneficial
Safety measures include pre-tour safety briefings, the use of avalanche safety gear, and experienced guides trained in first aid and avalanche rescue techniques. Participants will be required to undergo a brief training on using avalanche safety equipment.
Guides are trained to handle emergencies and carry communication devices to call for help. The group will also be equipped with first aid kits and emergency supplies.
Participants generally need to be in good physical health and capable of skiing in off-piste conditions. All ages are welcome, but minors under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult.
The terrain can vary from wide-open powder fields to more technical tree runs or steep slopes. We offer different routes based on skill levels and current snow conditions.
Conditions can vary widely. Tour operators monitor weather forecasts and snow conditions to choose the best and safest routes. Clients should be prepared for changing weather and variable snow quality. Visibility can be challenging during the storm cycles we need to bring the snow.
Tours can range from half-day excursions to full-day adventures depending on the group's fitness and energy levels. We typically head down the mountain to be back to the trucks by 4pm.
Group sizes can vary but are often kept small to ensure safety and a personalized experience. Common group sizes range from 2 to 6 participants. It may be possible to accommodate larger groups, please call to inquire
BC Snow Concierge has an extensive collection of skis and snowboards for rent, and we can source additional gear as required.
